Terms of service

Draft. These terms have not been reviewed by a lawyer and are not yet in effect. Items in square brackets are still to be decided.

Last updated 25 October 2026. These terms apply to the Smalti apps and this website. Smalti is published by Noah Johnson, an individual, referred to below as "I" or "me". By downloading or using Smalti you agree to these terms.

Using Smalti

Smalti is free of charge. The source code and release builds are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0, which sets out what you may copy, change and redistribute. The licence does not grant use of the Smalti name or logo, so a modified version must not be presented as Smalti.

Your responsibility

Smalti runs the shells, commands and programs you start, including coding agents such as Claude Code that can read, modify and delete files and run further commands. You are responsible for what you run in Smalti and for keeping backups of your work. Smalti does not review, limit or undo what those programs do.

On iOS you are responsible for the hosts you connect to, for the accounts and keys you use on them, and for complying with the policies of any network or service involved.

Other services

Smalti works alongside software and services made by others, including Claude Code (Anthropic), Tailscale, GitHub and the websites you open in browser panels. Their own terms apply to your use of them. Smalti is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic or any of these companies.

No warranty

Smalti is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. I do not promise that it will be free of errors, that it will keep working with future versions of Claude Code or your operating system, or that any feature, platform or update will be delivered.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of Smalti or this website, even if advised of the possibility. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law allows.

Support

There is no obligation to provide support, fixes or updates. Bug reports are welcome at hello@smalti.dev.

Changes and termination

I may change these terms by posting a new version on this page with a new date. You can stop using Smalti at any time by deleting it. If you do not comply with these terms, your permission to use the release builds ends.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Essex County, Massachusetts.
